CREATION OF JUUL

The Creation of Juul is a piece focusing on the nicotine consumption of young people in the current day and age. It focuses on how vaping and smoking is glorified, and people take it super seriously and almost worship it. This photograph references the painting The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo. I wanted to reference the same pose as the painting because I want to convey how these smoking devices are just being handed to the public and being taken willingly because we feel like we can’t live without them. The presentation in the large, ornate frame is important because it highlights how the consumption of nicotine is glorified, just how the painting would be glorified in a museum.
