THESIS WORK

I’m using text on fabric and images to express these feelings. Feelings of hurt and heart break, as well as feelings of love, trust and commitment. I want to take the everyday feelings that people can feel in relationships and turn express them in a way that is relatable to all. I came out of a relationship where I was deeply hurt and had trouble communicating with this person. A few years later and I am now in a healthy, loving relationship, while it has its own set of hardships, being that its long distance, it has blossomed my view of relationships in to a more positive one. I use text that is personal to me, some from diaries or text messages. I want this use of personal text to convey the feelings that come along with relationships, whether the feelings are positive or negative. The use of thread has become important in my work, its symbolizes my connection with people and how I want to tie myself closer to a person.
